Stitching the Sun Embroidery Tutorial

Craft type: Embroidery
Thread: Embroidery floss in the color you like. Stitch with 3 strands.
Tool: An embroidery needle, a piece of fabric (approx. 5” square), one 3-inch embroidery hoop, and a heat-erasable pen
Stitches used: Running Stitch and Double Running Stitch

Whether you have prior embroidery experience or not, this project takes under 40 minutes to stitch. You will have a cute and delicate motif in one night. If you like what you’ve stitched, you can stitch again on a T-shirt to add a personal touch to your garment. Another night with intentional creative time!

1. Transfer the design from the template to your fabric, using your preferred method. I used a heat-erasable pen in the video. Then, set up your hoop.
2. Working with 3 strands of the embroidery floss, use running stitches for the straight, dashed line in the outer round. When finished, secure the stitch.
3. Working with 3 strands of the same-color embroidery floss, use double running stitches for the spiral in the center. When finished, secure the stitch.
4. Use a hair-dryer to remove the tracing lines. (If using a stick-and-stitch patch, wash away the patch and leave to dry.)
