Seeking Intentional Creative Time by Starting Small

Nora Xu

Life gets busy. Sometimes, we long for a break that actually feels good but end up scrolling on screens for hours and not feeling relaxed. Let’s try something different – fill those scrolling hours with mini craft projects that give us intentional creative time.

Starting Small with a Mini Craft Calendar

A Mini Craft Calendar is a series of projects I’ll start in mid-July, and I’d love to invite you to join this journey. We’ll make a collection of small projects that take less than sixty minutes each – short enough to fit into weeknights or weekends.

Every month, I’ll list four weekly projects and share a tutorial for each, so you can follow along and make them with me. The list of projects, including tools, materials, and techniques, will be announced via our newsletter and on our website around the end of each month. The tutorials for each weekly project will be shared on Wednesdays.

This program will start with yarn and thread projects. As a crochet pattern designer, naturally, I’ll include crochet projects, but I may throw in some small embroidery and knitting projects as well. The projects will be beginner-friendly and focus on one or two stitches or techniques.

Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to receive the information about the monthly Mini Craft Calendar.

Following Along No Matter What Level You Are

Decided to follow along? Check the monthly project reveal for required tools and materials and gather them before the release of the tutorial. Also, check the techniques we’ll use to see if you already know them.

Don’t worry if you are completely new to the craft or don’t know all the stitches. I will link additional tutorials to each technique needed for the projects. You might need to take some extra time to familiarize yourself with new skills, but building up your abilities gives you options and flexibility for your creative time.

If you are already very familiar with the crafts and do them regularly, keep it up and cherish your creative hours. If you need some encouragement or motivation to reconnect with your craft, I hope this Mini Craft Calendar can help you come back more often.

Starting small is a good way to try something different. Without further ado, welcome to our inaugural program – the July Mini Craft Calendar.
